課程概述 |
The course offers an inquiry-format of learning where practices of writing academic essays, individually or collaboratively, are complemented by the study of communication arts , which entails an understanding of logic, organizational skills and a certain familiarity with ICT-based writing tools and techniques.
|

課程目標 |
The course primarily aims to teach general aspects of academic writing, sentence-structure variety and low-level rhetorical modes (e.g. narrative, descriptive, process, illustration), while raising students’ awareness of conceptual and analytical thinking skills, or the high order thinking skills (e.g. definition, comparison and contrast, argumentation).

課程要求 |
Students are majors of English, or students with an intermediate level of English proficiency or its GEPT equivalent. They also need to have self-regulated learning skills shown in their ability to design, execute and modify a learning plan in order to complete the required tasks in the course; and to seek guidance from instructor, raising questions when faced with difficulties.
